Benefits of Balloon Sinuplasty: Quick Recovery and Lasting Relief

Sinus Help in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX, is home to Everyone's ENT & Sinus Center, where our experienced, skilled, licensed otolaryngologist/medical doctor, Dr. Christine Gilliam, performs balloon sinuplasty, bringing permanent relief to chronic sinus sufferers.

Our practice serves the children and adults of San Antonio and surrounding areas, providing an extensive list of advanced ENT services, such as head and neck problems/sinusitis/allergies/ear pain/sleep apnea, and more. Our doctor explains the sinuplasty procedure and the relief it can bring.

What Is a Sinuplasty Procedure?

Chronic sinusitis is miserable to deal with day in and out, but this minimally invasive procedure gives you the relief you seek for your chronic sinusitis. This procedure is outpatient under local anesthesia, much like a dental procedure. There are fewer hours of downtime for recovery. Many of our patients discover immediate results.

We ensure your nasal cavity is numb through an administration of anesthesia before inserting a small flexible catheter with a microscopic camera and balloon on the tip into the sinus cavity that allows our doctor to examine your sinus cavity. When the balloon reaches the sinus cavity, it inflates, thus opening up the sinus pathway and restoring natural function. Our doctor removes the catheter, leaving the sinus tissue to heal.

Benefits of This Procedure

  • Fewer hours of downtime
  • 24-48 recovery
  • Local anesthesia
  • Naturally, repairs damaged sinus
  • Relieves chronic sinus
  • A successful alternative to sinus surgery
  • Painless
  • No side effects/complications

What Are the Risks of This Procedure?

Everyone's ENT & Sinus Center in San Antonio, TX, performs balloon sinuplasty procedures and would agree that everything in life carries with it some element of risk. However, since this procedure is minimally invasive and safe, most patients report no risks or complications after the procedure.

You could experience more nose bleeding than you expected, and you could develop bacterial sinusitis, but it is unlikely. However, should this happen, we will order some antibiotics to cure the infection.

There is always a risk that your sinus symptoms will return. If this happens, you may need this procedure repeated or an alternate treatment, such as endoscopic sinus surgery. We see few patients needing sinus surgery because this procedure didn't succeed.
